Play an Important Role in Educating & Helping Children Flourish

Do you have a passion for children? Are you interested in improving your skills in the classroom? Our Child Development Program at Alvin Community College may be a good fit for you. In our program, you will prepare for a career in a childcare center as a classroom teacher or administrator. Courses explore child development, classroom management, curriculum, and more. ACC offers three options to help you get started in childcare:

  1. A Child Development/Early Childhood Certificate will provide you with knowledge and skills for entry into the field of early education and care.
  2. A Child Development/ Early Childhood Administration Certificate will equip you with knowledge, skills and credentials to become a director of a child care facility.
  3. An Associate of Applied Science Degree in Child Development will prepare you to transfer to a 4-year university.

*How Much Will the Program Cost?

Approximate costs for the Child Development A.A.S. Degree program including tuition and fees are $4,200 for in-district students, $6,960 for students out-of-district, and $9,840 for non-residents. Additional fees for books and supplies are approximately $1500. 

Yearly costs for the Child Development/Early Childhood Certificate program including tuition and fees are approximately $2,200 for in-district students, $3,500 for students out-of-district, and $5,000 for non-residents. Additional fees for books and supplies are approximately $800. 

Approximate costs for the Child Development/Early Childhood Administration Certificate program including tuition and fees are $1400 for in-district students, $2400 for students out-of-district, and $3,300 for non-residents. Additional fees for books and supplies are approximately $400.
